  1. Pork loins were on at a great price last week so I picked one up. Looking to try something different this time so I decided to try making my own schnitzel and I'm sure happy I did. I ended up with with 14 slabs that after trimming I put in a gallon ziplock two at a time and pounded them down to 1/4" slabs with a rubber mallet. Spiced up the flour with salt, fresh ground pepper and my own smoked paprika. Added a bunch of worcestershire to the egg and milk mix and then used my own smoked bread crumbs. Added fresh rosemary sprigs to the oil/butter mix on low heat for a few minutes and then removed them before cranking the heat up and a quick fry at 3 minutes one side then flip and 2 minutes on the other side. Boy did they ever turn out good, tender and moist with great flavour, store bought ones have nothing on these. 8 of them are now vacuum sealed in 3 packs and frozen for a quick meal in the future. So I got 14 of them for $8 worth of meat, can't beat that for quality and value. Didn't take a pic of the finished product but they turned out with a nice dark brown crispy coating from the smoked bread crumbs. Definitely will do again. Cheers

  2. Quarantine is when you restrict the movement of sick people. Tyranny is when you restrict the movement of healthy people. In my opinion.

  3. No dumping fish parts, we have just gone to bi weekly garbage pickup, should be able to crawl to the curb by itself by then.

  4. This new regulation is under the "Possession and Use of Bait" section of the regulation so I can't see how it would preclude you from disposing of 'offal' into the lake as it was done in the past.

  5. I'm back in the GTA for the last few weeks but pretty much all of my fishing buddies have either left the city and/or have left the sport! I'm also partly guilty because I've been travelling a ton the past few years, living abroad, and fishing sporadically... How time flies... it seems like it was just yesterday that I was posting pictures of my pike and carp catches from the Toronto Islands ...

  7. Ok, step one is do your homework. Each brand has motor classes they do well in and some not so good. This is true for every manufacturer; no exceptions. So my advice is don’t shop on brand alone. Look at hp size, price and service availability before deciding. Also remember people tend to pump the tires of what they bought with their own money and what they currently own. So use an average of all opinions. Good luck!

  8. You know how some guys go golfing on the day of their wedding? Well me and my men went ice fishing in our tuxedos at the exact spot being talked about here. Yesterday was actually the anniversary of that. Didn't last long...was around negative 30 that day and these were not insulated tuxedos.

  10. I am 75, I don't even bother with a floater suit any more, I dont walk on 4" of ice, carry ice picks or a spud. When I want to go ice fishing now I pay my $60.00, park on shore, get transported to and from a nice warm clean hut by knowledgable staff and just enjoy the day😊. Oh, and here is yesterday's catch and several nice jumbos were released to fight another day.

  12. I used my dad's one when I built this back in the 90's. Along with a ton of other tools of course. Made from rough cut lumber I got off my buddy that was a logger.

  13. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viral_hemorrhagic_septicemia " Transmission VHSV can be spread from fish to fish through water transfer, as well as through contaminated eggs,[3] and bait fish from infected waters.[41] The emerald shiner is a particularly popular bait fish in the Great Lakes region, and is among the species afflicted.[42] Survivors of the disease can become lifelong carriers of the virus, contaminating water with urine, sperm, and ovarian fluids.[1] The virus has been shown to survive two freeze/thaw cycles in a conventional freezer, suggesting both live and frozen bait could be a transmission vector. In Europe, the gray heron has spread the virus, but it does so mechanically; the virus is apparently inactive in the digestive tract of birds.[2] " They may be trying to prevent the spread of this? If the virus can survive 2 freeze thaw cycles in a conventional freezer? In pictures here of Lake Erie fish die offs there always seems to be Emerald Shiners in the pics, better not to use fish or parts for chum?
