  2. Theres lots of other lakes besides simcoe and nipissing that have safe ice. You are just going to have to wait a bit for simcoe. I don't know about what happened with you and the hales guys, I thought you said it was floyd hales to be honest, but I have been going out of beaverton for over 30 years, and I have nothing but good to say about those operations. I've been on both the receiving end, and the giving end of help, and they all pulled together when someone was in need. Now, if you were set up in their compound, that is on you. If you were set up on the trail they were using, that is also on you and a huge NO NO. I don't even ride my sled on their trails. They spend a lot of time and money to keep their "roads" open and accessible and marked for the safety of their clients, and all it takes is one person to wreck their day. I'm sure you could understand that they have bad days too, and people setting up in their area will do that. I know its not their lake, but they do deserve some respect out there, and I always give them a wide berth. They are just trying to pay their bills like the rest of us. I haven't had a single issue with any of them. Just because you see their huts, doesn't mean you need to set up in that area either. I always have better fishing away from the packs of huts. Stay to the outer edges, always come prepared for anything, and never count on anyone but yourself to get you out of a bad situation. Rules to live by out there. S.

  3. Got to finally wear my suit this morning. OMG that thing is so warm. Over warm IMO. I might have to take the inner jacket out. I did find it bulky as well. The bib well, sure glad it has that elastic side band. LOL Was on some sketchy ice this morning. Very uncomfortable, but fished a few hours any ways. Marked 2 solo whities that did not want to come home with me.

  4. I don't often comment on a lot of posts but in this case Bell Canada has earned one. Bell Canada is probably the number one example of a company that has become so big that it no longer needs to make customer service any kind of a priority. With very few exceptions I find their representatives are arrogant and downright condescending. The majority of technicians I have met seem to have a bad attitude and a chip on their shoulder. Some have made it clear that they don't care and that they hate their job. Bottom line is that customers are generally just a pain in the butt. My experience has been that if it comes to the need to resolve a bigger issue this company is completely handicapped and unaccommodating. This problem is evident from the presidents office all the way down the line. It's a shame because at one time Bell was the company that set the bar, they were highly respected and regarded as one of the best companies in the world. Today they offer good technology and it's all ok until something doesn't work as planned or there is a problem. If something arises it is unlikely that they can support the customer and actually resolve the issue. Bell Canada is a giant in the industry and getting bigger in spite of their bad service and poor customer relations.

  5. Lots of ice for walking from Monto Reno marina south to gilford In some of places there were machines on the ice but I spudded and found the ice too inconsistent for my bike. And saw some slush fields too

  6. Ya we actually are having our bell disconnected today! We have been paying $220/month for satellite tv, internet and home phone (which we do not need...but it didn't save us anything to cancel just that). Well with homeschooling we have discovered that our internet is total crap (5 mbps??? or something like that). Only one kid could be on video call at once...but we have 4 kids! Anywho, when may wife called them for better internet they were going to jack our price even more. She told them no way, gonna start shopping around. They basically did not care and made minimal attempt to keep us (were gonna knock like $20 off bill). Anyway, she found options for waaaaayyyy cheaper. After some hardware costs (ie android box) it was only going to be $70-80 a month and we would have more channels and 150 mbps (?) internet. Called bell to give last warning that we plan on leaving, would they drop pricing to keep us...nope. So we get the other stuff set up, call bell to let them know we are cancelling now and THAT person made the most sincere attempt to get us to stay....uhhh a little late we had already bought the android box, got a firestick and had the other company in to get us set up. You would think with people leaving in droves bell would scratch and claw to keep their existing customers. We did not have that experience!

  7. You're probably right about Sally, not being able to go out on Simcoe. May mean a run up to Nipissing; but that seems like a lot just to use her? I'm hoping that I can get the quad and the bobsled out on Simcoe; at least to the perch grounds? I'm also waiting and watching for the hut operators to start using their bombardiers; if or when they do; then I'll try putting Sally out on the ice? Stay on the trails and not venture to far off the trails. Maybe I'll get Tim Hale to give me crap again for setting up to close to his string of huts; "causing them to flood"? LOL I was 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile away from his string; but I guess that wasn't far enough for him and his team. They kept buzzing my hut every chance they had. On my second day out there they started again; but this time a CO was watching. After he checked that we were legal, he ask how long has the harassment been going on. I told him and he said that he would take care of it. For the rest of my 5 day stay in the hut; I wasn't bothered by him again. I use to have a lot of respect for Tim and the way he catered to his customers. I guess if you're not spending money with him; you're crap on the bottom of his shoes. Just telling it as it happened. Dan. i'll

  8. So, years ago, when I worked downtown, we had Bell as our ISP. The system, to say the least, was sporadic and completely unreliable. One day it went down and my boss called Bell for tech support. After well over an hour talking to various techs, she was put on hold and the call was dropped. Angry she was, oh yes. She called back and again, more than an hour with the tech, the tech asked here if she could hold. Her response was no, I won't go on hold as the last time you people put me on hold, the call was dropped. Response from the tech (who was off-shore)... "Don't worry, I'll be with you until we kill the goat". @GBW can verify! HH
