  1. As the open water season draws to a close and I reflect on this past season, MAN was it crazy! Not really sure what the new normal will be but I just want to get back to some kind of normal! that being said, sorry that I've been MIA for a good part of the summer. That being said our lakes and waterways seem to be busier than ever before with many new anglers drawn to our sport during these COVID times! Hopefully these newcomers will take the time to understand what it takes to be a responsible anglers, understanding MNR rules & regs., respecting the properties of others, etc. We will try to address as many of these things in on-line content as the ice season approaches! That being said, still managed to catch plenty of great fish! See below some fish porn from this past open water season! Will still get in a number of fun fishing outings before ice-up and looking forward to the up coming ice season! I hope that everyone has had a great summer and is staying safe & keeping well! It'll be ice fishing season in no time!

  2. Wrote a rather extensive piece last fall outlining the advantages of a tiller. Not to say there aren't days I wouldn't mind the comforts of a full consoled boat and eventually I'll go there, but for many reasons explained in the article I feel the ultimate multispecies option providing best boat control, space and yes in some ways comfort too, is a tiller. Click the link below to read more about those thoughts if you like. THE TILLER ADVANTAGE

  3. Really appreciate that offer again Art! I’m looking forward to when we can cross the border and experience the many fishing opportunities down there! Hopefully we’ll be able to take you up on that offer sooner rather than later! Stay safe & keep well!

  4. Thank you for all of the great pictures Dave. We had kind of a damper down here with the COVID and such so I didn't get out as often as I wanted. We had a really good season down here with the Snakeheads and the Bass. The water temperatures have cooled down to a point where the Snakehead bite is over for the season but next year it should fire up again. As I have said before if you are near the Potomac River give me a shout and we can get after a few of the local species. Art

  5. I was just making a joke about hooking it up to live electricity. If you didn’t like 110/115 volt jolt, imagine 600v

  6. I never bothered with using UConnect, I simply hate it. The process seems to be very simple if your car has USB port.

  8. I got my reply this morning Thank you for your email. Airguns are considered firearms under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, but are not considered bows/crossbows. Airguns may be used to hunt small game (other than wild turkey and bullfrog) in Ontario, provided they are not restricted or prohibited firearms under the federal Firearms Act. Only bows, muzzle-loading guns, shotguns or rifles may be used to hunt deer, moose and elk in Ontario. Airguns do not qualify as a shotgun, rifle or muzzle-loading gun. Should the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) consider making future regulatory changes, such as changes to permissible firearms used for hunting, they would be subject to a public consultation process. If you require further assistance, please contact the Natural Resources Information and Support Centre at the toll-free numbers below. We are currently in our peak season. Call volumes are typically higher early in the week, particularly after the weekend. The best time to reach us is Monday-Friday at 8:30am EST. Callers may receive busy signals and disconnects because of the call volume. 17. Can you imagine what a person like this could do, if they would put their efforts into legit work? They'd likely be a well respected employee; where did they decide thieving was a better way? Dan.

  18. I absolutely detested using a Mitchell 300. I must be in the minority in thinking they where one of the worst reels ever designed. Old abu’s where ok, I still have a couple. I never stopped using 700’s and 1300’s. A 700 sits on my favourite jigging rod, I have at least 2 1300’s that still see regular use. Can’t beat em!

  19. When were you released? Out early on good behavior? Sometimes on weekends in there I felt like I was in prison Dave. I think we worked for the same company. Especially in the summers of 81' and 90', I did 3 months in each year.

  20. We've been lucky enough to get a few good ones here & there! It's been a fair tournament season, especially considering the fact that we didn't think that we would have one at all! We've won a couple of smaller events and had a fair number of top 10 finishes in larger events. Just focusing on a little fun fishing now!

  21. Totally ridiculous and outrageous that a human being would act in this manner! If there is illegal fishing going on contact the MNR hotline but to endanger people's lives because you feel you own the water or whatever is an asinine move! Sadly he'll probably get a fine and that's all! If you drove a vehicle recklessly through a bunch of people just hanging out, you would probably face some jail time! Hope that he gets prosecuted to the full extent of the law! Unfortunately, this type of incident is becoming more common place! Sober sane people do not do such things!

  22. The beauty of the Mitchell 300 is that it was easily repairable and parts were available for a really long time. I recall back in my youth in London, there was an elderly gentleman who repaired Mitchell's from his garage. I went with my Dad to get repairs done on a couple of Mitchell's including my 309 (I'm a lefty) and he had all the parts and fixed it right in front of you. I learned a lot just watching him. Bail springs were the usual culprit. My collection of Mitchell's includes early 300's, made in France as well as some mid 80's reels and lots of spare spools! HH

  23. Spouse hounds spouse to clean up.. Spouse borrows truck from buddy and finally cleans up the yard, heads to the dump on the weekend and finds the gate locked and then hits the nearest back road. Can't for the life of me figure out why Northern dumps are gated, when most have no "tippage" fees. Deal with it every frigg'n week here on our road and it's amazing how you can wrap a backhoe around a pickup while you wait for the cops.

  24. That is a crime as well.... you can't paint a plate. My buddy Tom got charged for that 30 years ago for repainting his letters Blue again on his front plate..
