  1. A quick video of some aggressive smallmouth bass action on the Grand River. Now is the time to get out and catch these guys. Enjoy!

  2. Sharing a pic from this weekend of a silver laker caught in Kingscote Lake in Algonquin. Kinda cool looking and only found in this lake. First laker trolling from a canoe for me which made it extra special. 2 oz weight, small gang troll, chartreuse mepps.

  5. Finally replaced the fishing vest that was in the car when it was stolen last year, Doesn't have the same sentimental value that a present for the family had, but except for the colour it's exactly the same, a Bushline Aparaho. Not sure if they spell it that way on purpose, or whether they didn't know that the indigenous tribe is 'Arapaho', but whatever, I've finally got one. I prefer it to a tackle box, the only trouble is keeping certain lures, like large plugs, in cloth pockets without them hooking the fabric. Haven't found those plastic Plano lure boxes that are large enough for a lure but small enough to fit in a pocket. I'm finding that plastic pill jars are quite useful in that regard, so I'm saving them. Gradually replacing all the stuff I had in it, but it's nowhere near as heavy as the previous one yet. I got so used to the weight that when the new one arrived in a box I thought it was empty!

  7. No downriggers? https://www.precisiontrollingdata.com/ Strategies: http://www.bluehorizonsportfishing.net/Keating-on-Kings.html Wind direction is key. Of all the go / no-go input factors, wind direction is #1 and yes, on the right day anyone can catch 'em. all day long. Don't be discouraged - I've been out with the best charter capts and seen them struggle - 3 in an 8 hour day (I know, I'm blessed), and the same guy slam them all day long. FWIW my biggest fish hit on a bright sunny day after 12:00 noon with almost no wind.......and the 2nd biggest after noon on a semi overcast day with no wind. Time on the water. just cruising by, BB.......winds

  8. BTW a great way acc to some boat build forums to provide flotation is to install a bunch of various-sized cleaned out and capped plastic motor oil jugs. Easy to install, cheap, light and effective.
