  1. My son and I hit Simcoe today, he was just using a hook and worm, caught a ton of perch and rock bass including a couple big ones, I also took one of my favourite pictures of him so far, the one at the front of the boat. I caught a bunch too but was just messing around with my in-line spinners for pike. Note - I’ve been trying to get him to not hold the fish as far out as that lol!

  2. It is a teaser lure that we use in saltwater fishing down here. Save the money and just buy a jitter bug it will work just as well and easier to remove from the fishes mouth . Art

  3. When I worked at Pearson we learned that coyotes love to do it in the middle of a runway. Great fun taking a new guy out for a FOD check: Driver: "There's some debris, just lean out and pick that up." New Guy: "Okay, I'll get it... what the hell?!?!?!" Driver: "Sorry, should have told you to wear gloves." <snicker>

  7. What's that wrapped around the asparagus? Prosciuto? One of the best things I ever ate in Germany was spargle (white asparagus) wrapped in schinken (ham) with some kind of case (cheese), during the spargle festival. Man, that was good stuff! And schweinehaxen! Now I am thinking German food. Again.......... But tonight it is fresh yellow beans from the garden, BBQ chicken drumsticks, and potato salad. (Boiled potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, yellow pepper, green onion, lots of mayo, and some smoked paprika, yum yum.) No seal salt, no vinegar (but the Germans love vinegar in their kartofflesalat), no carrots.............

  9. Especially when shore fishing, always carry a bag to pick up garbage, fishing line etc. On the water always picking Styrofoam worm containers etc.!

  10. I was at the Orillia Launch a week or so ago last Friday and a guy putting his boat in told us about the upcoming fees to launch and park. Seemed incredible, but my Buddy did some research and found it to be true! They started on July 10th with their fees. $50 to launch, and $50 to park Thursday to Sunday for non-residents. Their reason was to try and limit people visiting the beach! This is criminal! I don't mind paying a fee of $10 or even $20 for these decent launches if it helps pay for their upkeep, but when it is all about keeping non-locals away, there is something wrong. I mean, we are still residents of Ontario! Oh, and the rule about no trailers in the parking lot near the ramp is a joke! You have to haul it way up onto some dirt road quite a distance from the ramp to park and then hoof it back. Really slows up the ramp. Meanwhile the people who are just there to let their dogs crap everywhere while strolling around the park, are allowed to use the double length spots near the ramp! I spent 26 summers near Orillia and they always mystified me in that town with their logic or lack of it! They rely on tourists, but do everything in their power to drive them away!
