  1. I have followed tournament Bass fishing since the mid '80's and always enjoyed seeing the fish. Personally, I don't have enough competitive spirit in me to want to fish one myself! lol I would say that "seeing" the fish is the major reason why I fish! I snorkel a lot to do just that! As of this past couple of years, I became a huge fan of Major League Fishing on TV. Those fish are released immediately. Granted the cost of having camera crews and scrutineers in each boat would cost them more than the way these B1 and other tourney's are run, but the mighty dollar should not dictate what is good for the industry and the reputation of tourney's in my opinion. I looked at the photo's of the young woman holding up those fish in all different (sponsor themed) outfits. Just pathetic! Unfortunately, this is what the fishing industry wants though. Anyways, very interesting thread, but also very infuriating!

  2. You are the Dad of the summer of 2019. I would have killed to spend that kind of time when I was your boy's age. Do me a favour, wear shoes on a boat. Nothing worse than spoiling that kind of weekend than to have to go into North Bay to remove a hook buried in a foot.

  5. Are you sure they are bass that are blowing up on your frog? I fish frogs all summer long and generally the bass take it down in some fashion. Now Northern Pike they are notorious for missing a top water so it could be them making all the noise for the most part.

  6. Sure they can. But I’ll bet you fish it they same way every time too. Change it up....try fishing it very aggressively or add in very long pauses(1-3 minute) before a twitch. Any bait can work differently just by fishing it differently. As for trying new baits, it would be more than a little hypocritical for me to not suggest buying more tackle. ?

  7. We just got back from a Fly-In with Air Dale last week. We slow troll worm harness to find them, throw out the orange marker buoy, and get on them with jigs. Impulse paddle tails worked great, but Z-man easily out lasted them. Not sure what they are made of, but they hold up way better! (we prefer the "H" shape marker buoys. Lighter and easier to pack) Clown finish body bait trolled also found some active fish. Mosquitoes were intense on this trip. Fly strips by the cabin lights helped. also picked up a small rechargeable bug zapper from basspro last year. it worked surprisingly well. I also install a bug net over my bunk. nothing worse than those blood suckers keeping you awake all night. It was mentioned to take tylenol/advil. i would also suggest a few antihistamines. We figure my buddy got bit by something on our trip. One morning he woke up and his finger was swollen to twice its size. Swelling got worse and started in his hand as well. 2 antihistamines and an ice pack seemed to do the trick. Took a full day for the swelling to go down. We aslo throw in some muscle relaxers, immodium, pepto tablets, and tums into our first aid kit. Hope you guys have a great trip!

  8. A couple years back we were in NB casting off the pier and catching mackerel on bare 3/0 chrome treble hooks. Put two on a line with a sinker and jig the line as you reel in. Lots of fun bringing two fish in at a time.

  9. Would love to see that car. I’m a big fan of the Mopar B Bodies Is it my ears or can I can hear an eastern screech owl chattering away in the distance a couple of times?

  13. No need to be driving around with a livewell full of fish all day. Why not a marshal for each boat, weigh and release?
