  1. I think we need to help newbies with tips/techniques etc but not location. Locations are best left to PMs once some familiarity and creds are established

  2. Facebook groups have slowed down forum participation for sure, but most of the Facebook sites are full of nonsense. Spot blowing has been going on since the dawn of time. In early 2000’s there was a steelhead magazine that blew up south shore Erie and Ontario fishing that was relatively unknown at the time. What can you do. New people is good, but if they just want location info, they have no plans to stick around. I never give location info other than to the occasional member through PM. Why would I give that up to this unknown quantity and his friends. No thanks. I am am always happy to discuss what works for me as far as techniques though, no real harm there! I’m not about to roast anyone though, you can always choose not to respond to spot hunters!

  3. That’s The mother ship (Ford headquarters) making those policies. In other words don’t shoot the messenger. It be like trying to get a mechanic to feel sorry for you when he tells you what it’s going to cost to fix your vehicle. As a mechanic; I didn’t design, build, buy or break the thing. I’m just here to fix it. Dan.

  5. Roasting pushes the thread up, giving it more attention. If you dislike newcomers asking for info, best course of action is to ignore the post. If you're like me, you're inclined to help newcomers. I realize I'm in the minority here, but I think there's value in it.

  6. We have been to the Yukon several times but Alaska was new. My wife Leslie, hurt her back on an ATV ride in to a remote lake so that stopped fishing for about a week. We only fished together 2 days of the nine days in the Yukon. She insisted I do an overnighter alone so I got an extra two days in. Climate change is messing things up...they only had four inches of snow all winter and most of that was in April. One lake was so low that most of the pike habitat was dry land. The water level was down about 5 feet. Drought is a new problem up there. Best part of the trip fishing wise was casting for lakers in 10 ft of water. They were basically all the same size but we had three solid hours of catching. Really you don't go to the Yukon to catch the biggest fish although there are some big ones there, you go for the setting. You are just smiling casting into this water.

  8. No need to be driving around with a livewell full of fish all day. Why not a marshal for each boat, weigh and release?

  11. Most of us are very wary about sharing our knowledge, because a great fishing spot was ruined after mentioning it on a forum. Seen it too many times. Seen ice fishing spots go from a hand full of people to too many to count after being discussed on a forum.

  12. Used to be most newbies took the time to introduce themselves and give us a bit of background to what they did, what they liked to fish for and what info they could provide. Seems like that's gone out the door too, maybe too many holes in the net.

  13. 100 % correct Terry, dealership gave me a great trade-in price plus a huge pile of cash discounts and Ford will supply them a new 5.0 engine to put in it and the dealership is gonna ship it down to Georgia to a wholesaler they deal with. Ford just called the dealership day before yesterday with a cash offer which I obviously took. I wish all this crap had never happened and ALL the blame from me goes straight to Ford who in my opinion is currently producing an inferior 8 cylinder motor. As I said above, life is too short to dwell on crap and I now have an amazing truck that I know I'm gonna enjoy.

  14. I rarely concern myself with bikes as they usually aren't behind me for more than 10 seconds. I find most of them running right down the line separating two lanes as they weave their way through traffic at speeds well beyond the limit. HH
