  1. I don't understand the appeal for handheld remote control bowmounts. I find them a total pain in the ass myself. I want my hands to be free, not playing around with a remote. Lots of options = Lots of problems. I will stick with what I have until it breaks down. Simple and effective! S.

  2. Been out on Erie 4 of the past 7 days and although the numbers aren't as good as last year, the fish we have got have been significantly bigger including two 8 pounders.

  4. Thanks for the kind words Misfish and others. Much appreciated! I am just so disapointed with them for their total lack of concern for a product failing so prematurely! I could not find many references to failures on several message boards, other than the foot pedal eating batteries. I hope these two failures are the exception, not the norm. Glad to hear yours has been flawless Art. I bought a new remote this week, but yes it would have been nice if I could have sent it in to check out or offered a discounted replacement? I always preferred cable drive, but my Wife was actually the one who convinced me to get with the times and try something new with the newer technologies!

  6. Who can afford these things??? Way too expensive and full of electronics that breakdown. I grew up in an era where if you spent the money the item would last a long time. It's just not that way anymore. These things are built to break down, that's why you can't buy parts for older electric motors. They want you buying new. That's it for my negative rant.....

  7. I hear the OCS is loosing money, leave it to government to lose money selling drugs and at inflated prices no less.

  9. Think we had it better before so called " LEGALIZATION " 4 grams , unless the operator was obviously stoned out of his gourd, in most cases wouldn't have resulted in a charge or you might have been asked to dump it over the side. Of course in my days CO's and cops weren't pr---ks.

  10. I was tooling around here yesterday and had Jerry Agar CBC radio on. The subject was the price of weed, legal and illegal. Many folks that know the prices all said illegal weed is 1/2 or less the price of the legal stuff. The gov would have us believe all the illegal stuff is laced with Fentanyl and other deadly substances. I don't smoke but if I did I certainly wouldn't be paying double. There are enough home growers I know that don't lace the stuff.

  11. This article has been brought to my attention, firstly I do not live in Durham(Not that there is anything wrong with that! LOL) and secondly anybody who knows me also knows that I don't drink (Alcohol, that is!) Oh and plus I have not been on Sturgeon or Scugog yet this year! Great to see them out there trying to keep our waterways safe! I am a huge advocate of boating safety!

  14. For those that" DO NOT KNOW, Mr B," he is not looking for a free replacement. Not that kind of guy . Known him for many years and he is a stand up tell you the way it is guy. I will stand by him and just say, why not go half way or even 1/3 the way Motorguide ? Customer service ++ Art, I get the "10 that are totally bull trying to beat the system " That is the real sad part of the whole deal. An honest customer looking for a half way deal, and those looking for a freebee. Those that are honest, get railed by the ones that put the bull. Mr.B, I would stay on them and try to get a mutual deal with them. This is not a $20 lure were talking about.

  15. I hate to say this but for the few stories that are honestly the truth on minimal usage due to an injury such as yours. they get 10 that are totally bull trying to beat the system. I feel for you and wish that it is different but you kind of have to appreciate why they can't warranty it. I have an XI5 on my boat and it has been flawless. Art

  16. Frustrating that your remote died. Maybe they could have offered you a replacement at a discount price?? Personally, I don't consider it bad customer service to not offer full warranty privileges outside warranty periods. I consider it fantastic service when they do but it should not be expected.

  17. I like the look of the Lowrance Ghost, no 60" shaft though at release. My Ultrex will have to do for now. But it will be great to finally have a motor (not motorguide) that pairs with my Lowrance finders.

  18. I don't know. They got 1 guy for weed, and 1 guy for open beer. Nobody got a DUI. I'd rather see them use their resources to bust thieves stealing boats, motors and ATVs, breaking into cottages and speeding down cottage roads where kids are playing.

  19. Fishing is a pay to play hobby for most. Good thing is, you get go as deep down the rabbit hole as you like...or can afford. Guys drops thousands per year on other hobbies as well such as racing, flying, hunting, etc.. It just comes down to the individual. One man's $400 is another man's $4000. Personally, I want one; key word being want...not need. But I have all kinds of fishing related equipment I don't need!

  22. yup no excuse but i too saw a cabin cruiser flip 2 small boats because he was running full out making a 6ft wave in a narrow passage i could have ran to the big boat to try to get him to stop but i went over to the flipped boats to get the people out of the water

  23. I was boating back downriver under the fort Erie peace bridge when some clown in a cabin cruiser was coming up river. Anyone who has gone through this current knows that it is a bit hairy under the peace bridge. The operator opened her up just before we met and he threw a 4 foot wave at my boat. Boy was I pissed. Some of these cruiser operators think that they own the right of way because of their size. I am not defending the guy in the smaller boat at all. He should have been charged so it was the correct outcome. What he should have done besides not being drunk was to call the police on the cruiser operator if he did something dangerous to the smaller boat. I am sure that we have all seen this one. The guy driving the cruiser saw this boat from a distance away yet still managed to run them over.

  24. I agree with there's no excuse; but I'd also would like to know what the "innocent" boater did? When I had my 16' tinny, I cannot count the number of times that I've been cut off, all but capsized or damn near run over; by these innocent cabin cruiser drivers/owners. Something set that drunk off; but again he shouldn't have done what he did. Dan

Congrats to him ?, me too Bill, my best was a oz or so shy of 35 back then , I watched as it slowly dropped on the weekly leader board till it finally won a couple of bulk spools of Blue Stren in the old Star Derby, think it was '86 , the same year John Slade RIP. won it and I had to pass that prize winning boat and truck every day on the way to work ?
