  1. Couldn’t be happier with what the kids got for my 60th. Thanks Guys! Advanced Taxidermy made a replica of my biggest ski. Caught in 2005 on Scugog. 52 inches. Based on measurement and photo. Hanging at the cottage now. BTW I posted an add to rent our cottage this summer if anyone is interested. 3 wks. Under miscellaneous.

  2. They're all set up and biting! This is going to be a beautiful weekend to get out for a feed of perch! We released the biggest ones to help sustain the population! 1/8 oz. Ultra Tungsten ball jigs with various plastics were the key! Figure out what depth they're at, stay on that depth using your Navionics charts and you'll smash them but please be selective.

  5. Management strategy for this little creek is to remove the browns to lessen competition for the brookies. It is a small creek with fantastic brook trout habitat and gets electofished with browns being removed to a brown trout river. It is a tiny creek and I am pretty sure is very under utilized. So while I would probably never keep them out of a brown trout creek I have no issues removing them from this particular creek.

  6. Navionics just added a cool feature to their Platinum+ and HotMaps Platinum chips, SonarCharts Shading, high definition relief shading on the Satellite Overlay layer. This feature allows you to discern depth changes easily! https://www.navionics.com/usa/blog/post/sonarchart-shading-being-added-to-platinum-and-hotmaps-platinum/?fbclid=IwAR05slZtt-0k0nAaStSbvVcpkupu50U5U1nldAoF9pfd7IeueH87-FTOdZU

  11. I think South Korea has 35000+ of the new 5G access points so we're gonna find out pretty quick i think. They have 250,000 customer out of the gate and the first phones launch May 10th. For Canada, 4G service makes so much more sense since low frequencies travel further than high frequencies. as such we're likely to be saturating 4G LTE everywhere for a while before 5G mini-cells start replacing them for most usage. In the cities, who knows. I think we're gonna see it at stadiums and malls just because of the performance. I thought it might be good mention that your 5G router is a very likely 5Ghz router which is different than 5G wireless technology. Most home wifi is 802.11ac which is 5Ghz and has been around since about 2013. The routers that use the 5G technology that we are worried about use the 60Ghz spectrum, but have only been around 6-8 months at the consumer level. This is 'WiGig' or 802.11ad. These are available in the 350-500 dollar price range but it's good to keep in mind that 60Ghz wifi won't bi-sect a wall. It's wave form won't penetrate a wall. The 5G devices that might be used could be higher or lower than 60Ghz, I think they are looking at 24-40Ghz stuff but I'm a network guy not a cellular phone expert. To some extent, the answer to getting away from Bell's 5G might be to go inside your house. If you want to cover your brain so it doesn't get hit by 5G radiation, you can very likely use a magazine or your hand, you won't need a tinfoil hat.

  12. Havnt made a report in a long time hear goes. Sunday morning Kawartha lakes was a little chilly headed out in 42-3f water temp wind outta the north in search of crappies so checked my first course spots fish were there but no takers water was 43-44f in canal try later in afternoon so onto 2nd spot no fish 3 Rd spot lots of bait again cold water no movement of anything tryed. A 4th spot water was now into 47-8f area game on immediately started sticking fish as the wind also shifted to a blow out of the west . 15. Don't have the heart to keep those little beauties, especially if they're wild. Nice fish though!

  16. Great rod for the money! I use a couple for my panfish & brookie fishing! It really depends on your budget, at a slightly higher price point the new Daiwa Tatula rods are awesome. They've gone back to cork handles which I love! There is a 7'2" Meavy Heavy model TTU721MHFS which is nice & stout!

  20. Water levels over in my corner of the Kawarthas haven't really been too bad until about a week ago but now they're starting to rise pretty fast. The water flowing thru the dams at Burleigh Falls, Young's Point & Lakefield is going very fast now and the Otonabee River is looking like the Lower Niagara. I went down to Youngs Point today and took a couple pictures but naturally they don't show what it's actually like but to take this 1st picture I was standing on a bridge and could actually feel it vibrating with all the water rushing under it. This is the Youngs Point lock and you can see the water is about 5" above the concrete wall where boats get tied up so probably at least 2' higher than normal. The barge has been in the lock all winter after doing some work in the fall but if the water rises much more it'll be sitting on the concrete. Haven't seen any homes in any real danger yet but the water is definitely starting to creep over some lawns and it sounds like we're all in for another deluge over the next few days.
