  1. Hey guys, Thanks for checking up on me! Been trying to keep myself busy; rented a small apartment up in Noelville for a couple of months and spent a lot of time with the kids. That, spending time with my brother, and life in general has kept me pretty well occupied for the last several months. ?

  2. I think too many people are grabbing at "what if" technology when the simplest thing is to wear the PFD. Ya it may be inconvenient to some, but if the "fail safe" gets wet or battery dies, the most locic thing is the simplest device, PFD. Why make things difficult.

  4. I have had my inflatable now for 4 years. I always thought it was a manual when I bought it, as there was a pull tag. Then one day I laied it on my seat of the toon. This one morning, I just lifted the toon to put it in the water to get on way. The vest slide off into the water. Next thing I hear is pisssssss. It hit the water and deployed. This thing gets huge. When wearing it,you don't even know you you have it on. It interferes with no moving about. No restriction at all. I have even got into the truck after a fish and realize later, I still had it on. I see these units go from $85 (on sale ) up to $200 or so. May not be cheap to some, but what is a life worth? I am not preaching here, ( have had my close call in life and got lucky ) You wont be seeing me without a PFD on .

  6. I asked my son who is a biologist & currently babysitting about 600,000 tilapia on a fish farm if he thought that's what this was. His reply: Hopefully he's right in the fact that they won't be able to reproduce.....

  7. A PFD is certainly cheaper than an electric trolling moor with spot lock?

  8. FYI, Nothing ventured right? I emailed Minn Kota with the suggestion of having the head unit ping the remote and enter Spot Lock if the signal is interrupted. I referenced the recent tragedy on lake O with Kevin Wong. I also mentioned that a boat in spot lock also tells rescue personnel exactly where the boater entered the water. I'm sure this would help Kevin's case as well. I don't expect to hear back but it's worth mentioning.

  13. I think the mouth method is a bit trickier. The bladder is longer than it is round in diameter. I'd rather try to hit it along it's length vs. head on. The side system is so easy because you have physical markers to line up the exact location of the bladder. I've fizzed a mountain of bass and I don't feel comfortable with gullet method. Just personal opinion I guess.

  17. I fished one of the lakes in Arrowhead and it had very good smallmouth fishing. The fish weren't huge but we caught tons in the 1-2lb range. It was a blast. We caught all of them on senkos. There is a canoe rental right at the lake we fished where can grab one for a few hours. I have also fished the big east and caught plenty of smallmouth and there are some brook trout spots. Definately worth fishing if you can locate access.

  18. According to my son who is a resident biologist on a large commercial tilapia farm, tilapia are intolerant to cold and start to die off when the water temps drop to below 55oF. Although some could survive, it is highly unlikely they could reproduce in the temperatures found in Lake O. I suppose he should know and I can assure you that these little tidbits of relatively useless information cost me dearly so I'm going to have to go along with his answer I guess.
