How big of a boat are we talking about? There's no fishing boat out there that couldn't get under the bridge and zigzag around the tree stumps. I've done well for largies and crappie in Maclean but I rarely ever fish it as GPool is right there. -
I've had this happen more times than I care to think about. Losing an expensive lure on the first cast. The only difference was my vulgar shouts that I am sure could be heard for miles.

How to size a bow-mount electric trolling motor

I don't know if I can fit two 27s -
I have the MKA-32 quick release mount for my Terrova. It's solid aluminum and can be locked with a small padlock. The mount is so rock solid that there is virtually no play at all. The tolerances are so tight, that sometimes it's difficult to easily slide off the top plate when removing the motor. I have learned to periodically rub a beeswax candle on the grooves before sliding it back on. Make sure you mount the bottom plate securely. I have heard of some fails where the bracket has ripped right off the bow. Depending on the composition of your bow deck, you may want use a 1/4" aluminum backing plate under the deck, or at the very least oversize SS fender washers. T-nuts will also help keep it secure. As you can imagine, there's considerable stress from a heavy TM when trailering over rough roads or bouncing through rough seas. I have read reports from Lake Erie guys, that regularly fish big water, of the composite material QR mounts cracking...but could just be internet Bull.

Two 27 series batteries in the front and single in the back. Helped having a built in gas tank. Big difference between a 169 and 145 though. -
I have the MKA 21. My terrova is a 2015 model, and it works great. There is always a tiny bit of slop when you have a removable plate, but in my opinion the convenience factor is worth it. I like that one because you pull the pins and it pops right off, it’s lockable as well. Great setup. I can’t imagine it wouldn’t work with the current terrova? I have had the slide in aluminum version in the past. It works fine, just not as slick as the composite one.

I don't know if I can afford it either, I haven't got my bill yet LOL

Did you have 2 batteries for the troller and a third dedicated starting battery? My little 14.5 sc with 25 4stroke is sensative to weight distribution is why I ask. When I have other people in the boat I have to move things around. His a bigger boat, but with the 50hp to push it, I was wondering if it might not be an issue with the family on board. -
The only day I can visit my sister in Scarborough is Sunday using the 401. It moves but you have to keep your eye out for the crazy drivers. On the week days it is a constant stop wait and slow go across the city. I can't afford the 407, why did Harris give it away?

I looked at my front storage where a 12V battery is housed currently. I actually have a 12V deep cycle from my previous boat. But it's a group 27 battery and its 2" longer (12" v 10"). It'll be a challenge to fit it in there since I need two 12V batteries to operate a 80lber. Guess I will have to get a smaller battery. The battery sold with the boat must be a 24. I am reading though, that 27s are the way to go for marine applications.. thoughts? -

I decided not to buy that one because I was thinking the same thing you posted. Just exploring now.. and yeah, make a lot more sense to get a new one that would cost about $800 or so more.. and the one of Marketplace actually sold. I think the one on sale for $2400 makes the most sense.. That terrova with the mini remote - reviews were meh.. some complained about the tiny remote and while another said: It was only when having the trolling motor installed in the Spring did I discover that the motor I bought did not include the heading sensor. The unit does spot lock without the sensor, but you cannot “jog “ left or right, front or back without the sensor. Also, the remote was the mini version and not the one with the lcd screen. So, not a deal at all. Cost me almost $400 to fully complete the expected experience. Buyer beware. -

I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ll say it again. The motherboard for those older ones is no longer available. I just confirmed this with aikmans. I’m repairing mine at the moment and brushes and seals etc are available. Motherboard not so much. Not a problem unless that main component goes on you. You should be leary of buying used stuff by now. Unless you have the ability to walk away from deals when something doesn’t seem right, you should probably stick with newer stuff. They have the terrova with the mini remote for sale for $2k plus tax at cabelas. I’d buy that before I spent $1800 on an 11 year old electric. -
Pair of 4" Lyman wood fishing lures. $30 each or $50 for the pair.

I agree nothing comes close to Gloucester and yes it’s a short boat ride (by the way how big of boat can you get under the bridge?). So that’s my argument to the wife that fishing for the kids and risk of algae bloom is better /less expensive in Gloucester but she likes the Maclean place better (fashion of function with these ladies lol). So will kids still have decent fun in Maclean off the dock vs what they have in go home bay? -

IMO Gloucester pool is 3 times better fishing then Maclean but it’s only a short boat ride between them -

Looking at a cottage on Maclean Lake and wondering if the fishing is any good. I grew up on the Gloucester Poole and know what to expect there but never went into maclean lake. Everything I do find fo rinfo doesn't look to good. Wife likes the cottage and it checks a lot of the boxes but if there is no fish then we got a problem. -
