Well i have fished muskies on many lakes. home port is l st clair. caught my first skie in 1956.ran a charter service and due to age/injuries we build musky lures. the LARGESTissue is enviroment,and the great lakes as a sewer system.we daily deal with invasives..if guys will deal with the obvious then calling out styles and methods that are completly legal..yes i have fished the st lawerence,ottawa river everywhere b,bay kawarthas etc. its about enviroment and other issues..why is st clair not destroyed. michigan runs 3 rods,ont 2 rods.and yet mnr states we have a musky imbalance of too many fish.,per acre. do your home work guys.

No doubt. I recall last year when they got to the second round more people were talking about it around me who weren't really into hockey. I can't image if they get to the finals how it would be. I'm just dreaming as most leaf fans do lol.

I don't know about "un-educated". Jon Anderson is one of the most respected Muskie authorities on the planet. And the list of names signing off at the bottom have a bit of experience too. BTW, it's not planer boards so much as long line trolling with mono, which remains a common practice on the US side of the river.

leafs ever win the cup...southern ontario will most certainly be closed the day of the final game and the following. It might actually get downright weird for a bit.

Up around Muskoka region, really like it there. Next spring I'd like to set a little fishing group. Find a couple of experienced anglers, see some new waters.

Depends on the trout. If you are fishing for large browns, steelhead, or lakers, I'd go 7, maybe even 8. Depends on the size of the quarry. I've used an 8 when fishing for large brookies and lakers in NWT, Manitoba, Quebec, and God's Lake/River. We were using midsized (3 - 4")streamers. If you are stream fishing in Ontario, a 5 or 6 should do well.

I've used 8 wgts quite a bit. Not too big for bass, and can handle pike and muskie. I like the articulated with a lot of marabou. Where you headed?

Honestly, if you can get a full refund, I would head to the upper French. Many lodges to choose from. I've fished the French both above and below the Chaudiere dams for 30 years. Probably well over 75 trips. Fishing has sometimes been tough (it can be on a 3 day trip), but is usually quite good. Walleye, Bass, Pike and Muskie. Lodge possibilties: 1) Crane's Lochaven ( my personal favorite....talk to Sue) 2) Chaudiere 3) Lunge Lodge 4) The Tilted Toque (Used to be Casa Blanca...went there for 15 years). 5) Totem Lodge 6) Breyer Lodge 7) Wolsey Lodge Also, you might take a guide first day. The whole friggin river looks fishy.....not the case. Crane's has a fleet of pontoon boats ( sans covers) that make for very comfortable fishing. Includes a wonderful shore lunch. Tell the guide you'd like to fish relatively close so you can fish the spots in your last two days. Walleye can be awesome. But, take some small topwater (ie Rebel PopR). Bass will nail them ( let them go), but pike love them as well. And....you be surprised at the muskie that will hit that smaller plug. Now I wish I was going. Damn!

I do. We were living on Durie St in the High Park neighborhood of TO. At the final buzzer everyone ran out into the street to celebrate. Car horns blaring everywhere. I remember by Dad walking around and pouring shots of Crown for the neighbours on the front porch. As a 9 year old, I thought I'd see that sight again, at least a few more times in the years ahead. Still waiting. Hope I see it while I'm still upright on this planet. When or if it happens, it'll probably be the only time I'll miss being back in the city...just to experience the collective jubilation. Never mind the World Series, NBA Championships or Grey Cups...Toronto has and (hopefully) always will be a Hockey town. There'd be one hell of a hangover afterwards..

Thanks, Bassman, My boat is not a deep V. In fact I took it out briefly on the weekend and deployed the trolling motor (a 45") that came with the sale. There was a chop. Seemed fine. the prop was well submerged in the water. It's not a big boat, and as I said, not very deep. Maybe big swells changes that. But I don't go out when there's major chop to be honest. I generally fish small lakes (Cameron, Kashe, etc) We will see! So what are the main features then of the regular i-Pilot ? I know it can spot lock (which is what I wanted) and I believe it will navigate to a direction that you can lock in to (record a track?). Will it learn a route? I saw a video where they demonstrated this by using their main motor to set the route then the i-pilot learned it and was able to replicate. Price was right so I jumped on it. It's a lot better than the old unit I currently have which is a 50lbs older Minn (90s)

You might have trouble with a 45" shaft on that boat if the wind kicks up.... usually those shorter shafts are for bass boats which are much lower to the water than deep V hulls.. that is why the guy got rid of it in the first place. You also bought an regular I-pilot motor, not an I-pilot link. So its just a GPS motor and does not have the capability to hook up to a fish finder. You would have to upgrade the head unit if you wanted that. If you do that, then you'll have to buy a Humminbird fish finder that is compatible for Link... check below. https://minnkota.johnsonoutdoors.com/us/support/compatibility/link As for batteries... if you have confined space 2 100ah mini lithium trolling motor batteries might be a good option. There are some budget brands who make them which get decent reviews right now. Getting into higher tech electronic outfits for your boat is not a cheap endeavor. Personally I think that the guy who sized these motors must be the same guy that sizes outboard motors for Legend. I have a Starcraft 168 and it came with a 12V 55lb iPilot and it was under powered for the boat. I since then purchased a new Terrova 80lb 60" 24V

I ended up buying a Terrova off Marketplace. Owner didn't have manuals. I'll download them and watch Youtube as I have no clue how to use it. It'a 45" 80lbs thrust. He bought a longer unit because he had bought a 18' boat. He said I needed to make sure that I had a newer model finder that can link the I-pilot features to be able to take advantage of the full spectrum of options on these Terrovas.. So that I can network it and be able to use Navionics maps. Honestly, it'll be a learning curve. I'm sure between YouTube and a downloaded manual, I'll figure it out. A friend is helping me get it all wired and ready for the season. Need another 12V battery to begin with. So I was thinking of installing a brand new Garmin Strike Vivid 4cv. I picked up up on sale last fall to put in my previous boat. Can these be linked up with the Terrovas? What else should I be considering before I get into this setup? Thanks!

Stupid Leafs HH

I take an ol' fella out with me occasionally that uses nothing but mooching reels for rigging. He doesnt own a level wind at all. As you know, there are limitless options for rods, but I have this stuck in my wee brain for now. It has to be resolved. lol I have experienced very little line twist using the run feature on the reels over the last 10 years or so. Maybe because I face into the wind and cast out a long lead?
