Shopping for new outboard...

well...

i think my motor is toast...or at least toast enough to stop putting money into it...

so

what make has the lead nowadays...i know this is gunna be a mixed bag of answers and please dont get into debates or brand wars... just wanna know what you guys might know about features and performance...

im thinking about upping to a 50hp tiller...from my current 40hp... for the days with 3 big guys in the boat(mercman and mercmans brother...lol) and loads of gear and lunches...etc...

my main form of fishing is trolling... so a motor that idles low and smooth is key...

im leaning towards Yamaha but locally a Mercury is easiest...there is a dealer 5 minutes away on the states side...

no matter what im gunna buy in the states... prices are a few thousand dollars lower then in Ontario...

one question i have... the capacity plate states that a 45 is the max hp... is it illegal to go over this? or is that a recomendation from the manufacturer? im sure the boat can handle a 60hp motor no problem... and a 50hp would be perfect...

anyways... lets hear it everyone...

thanks in advance...
Dump truck goes through guardrail near Highway 89
Updated 1:45

Traffic on Highway 400 is moving slow after a dump truck went through a centre guardrail just south of Highway 89 shortly before 1 p.m., Friday.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, officers have opened two northbound lanes while traffic in southbound lanes remain at a standstill.

The truck has been removed from the southbound lanes, but officers are still on scene attempting to clean up a minor diesel spill and make repairs to the the guardrail.

Reports indicate the truck was heading north when it went through the guardrail and into southbound lanes before stopping sideways.

Police continue to investigate the collision.

The Highway 400 southbound ramp at Highway 89 has been closed and officers are on scene.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Long Point Bay

Hi all,
Looking for some clarification regarding the boundaries of the inner bay fish sanctuary, which is closed for fishing from May 15th, to the Friday before the 4th Saturday in June.
According to the regs, the boundry is stated as "Lake Erie (eastern portion of the Inner Bay) - Walsingham and Norfolk Twps."
After a quick google search, I found a map showing the boundry on Stamp's Long point page. My question is: are there physical buoys marking this area on the water?
It's been years since I fished the bay. We were considering trying our luck for some pike this weekend, but being unfamiliar with the area, I don't want to be anywhere near the sanctuary. I also don't want to be gettting into any OOS bass during the spawn.
Don't want to ruffle any feathers here, just looking for some advice. Would it be better to avoid the bay altogether until bass opener? We're just looking to get into a few C&R pike locally, since we can't get up north this weekend.
Thanks.
